Guess you are referring to this bike.

http://www.electroboard.biz/RangerBike.htm

It looks like the Paratrooper and the normal price is 2099. Anyway, the promo is over.

This ranger looks like the real deal.
it does say Montague Military Technology on the mainframe.
and it does not have silly SIS parts.

maybe there is a counterfeit ranger out there....

If you are planning on getting the paratrooper, get it from an authorised manufacturer or distributor. There are ALOT of counterfeits out there.

Hi, SIS parts are one of the cheapest range in Shimano line up. It is usually featured in $100-200 bikes. Another friend of mine got a Marin from rodalink at around $600 and with much better parts and components

Most Dahons are 20" wheel and fold in the middle of top tube.

Not suitable for trail/off-road, steep up/down hill. Other than that it is more than capable for flat road and pavement alike. It usually has rider's weight limit around 90-95kg so if you are big size, it may not be suitable.

26" full size foldables like montague are more suitable for off-road but still not strong enough for hardcore downhill. But it is bigger and heavier. You also cannot take it with you into our train unlike many of the 16" or 20" counterparts.

Don't worry about the number of speeds. Chances are the other parts will break first before you get to use that many speed in the smaller foldies. I own a Dahon 9 speed (since 2008) and i sometime ride with my friend on it at around 20kmh with ease. (when I ride my full size MTB, also around this speed).

I had enquired before at the local distributor & was told the Ranger model is a fake. The pictures on their website does look like the real frame. Wonder how they can still be in business & still advertise prominently in the newspaper. Buyer beware.

It's quite obvious that the Electroboard pics are online pics of Paras photoshopped with the Ranger label. Maybe they bring in the frames from the OE TW factory thru alibaba and slap on their own parts, who knows? Laughing Or they may be cheap inferior frame copies, with dodgy FIT systems, quite dangerous if experience failure while out riding.

Care to share your purchase experience?

I obtained a quote from Yark for X50 and it was more expensive than Digineex. And this is before the shipment to sgp.
