its rather scary to see that numerous bikers have faced (apprantly) the same pack of dogs@ changi coastal area.
i went today(on road) and saw the dogs again but this time they were on the outskirts of the area near the road . i also saw another dog on the 7km stretch itself
but really,if i see dogs chasing me and are within 1m of my leg,i should just dismount?
what will they do if i dismount?? _________________

me and hisbabyf once rode pass a construction site at Sengkang. a small little dog was just walking around outside the entrance. we rode past the entrance and the dog started to chase us.
the dog started to chase me as i was the nearer target. it finally gave up its chase after a 20 sec sprint.
according to hisbabyf, the dog ran like 30km/h+ (from wad i remember) XD _________________ Nike's "Just Do It"

just call the cops and inform them of wild dogs causing threat to public. They will have to take action.
Then again, i have never seen any dog on coastal road. Are you on the PCN or the road? |

Alex is right, I had similar incident before, u cannot ride faster coz they will chase u, u can come down from ur bike, turn ard and start chasing them. I tell u, 100% they will run away from U.
Alternative, take off one of your shoe and pretend u wan to throw at them, they will run away faster than u thought.
I do this everytime I encounter such situation, let me assure u, the dog scare of u more than u scare of them

I have countless incident during the army days as a scout on a bike and running on road and chased by dogs...
My method which most may not like or dare to do...Face them and chase them back....trust me..they freak out and you just need to look for the leader to scare the whole pack off...
I know the instant reaction of panic when suddenly the dogs were just inches away from your legs...but you have to overcome the fear and stop the bike & face them...try to make yourself look big like combining your bicycle and body into one..hahaha
2 weeks ago I was passing by construction site at the barat and I did the same thing...the dogs got stunned....
Btw, I only have 1 case where the dog was blocking my way I tried to scare him off...but didn't work becos he just stare at me, no "woof"...so I lan lan back off cos I know he mean business..
If we scare dogs...then 1 day if our kids or gf/wife encounter this sort of situation...we run??? Have to be hero sometimes.. |

Last night was having a solo ride to CV. Just opposite of the big temple at Loyang, there was a pack of 4-5 dogs mulling by the road side. I spotted them about 1.5 car length away and had moved about 1 car width out to the center of the road. Then this one dog, the leader I suppose, spotted me and is just starting to sprint towards me. That moment, my reflex took over and let out a pretty fierce "bark" back at it. It sort of shocked, then turned and the whole pack ran in the other direction. And I continued my ride towards CV. _________________ the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. just because he has no evidence does mean that evidence does not exist |

Hahaha..that's good...the leader always have to look for opportunity to prove that they have a fierce leader and that's why we always kanna...but this time round, he pick the wrong person...
Guess they will dethrone him.. |

Just came back from coastal road today and didn't see any dogs around. Not that i am hoping to see them but im just curious about their whereabout since im there a couple of times a week.
anyway, it's good to have your water bottle that you can throw at them if they come close or your hand pump which you can use as a baton.
Against dogs, you have to make sure you are more aggressive than them but this does not apply to the dogs like pitbull , german shepherd, doberman ...etc |

| Never had problems with stray dogs, maybe because I have doggie smell on me. I have 3 med size mongrels. Near the sand quarry at Punggol Barat I was surrounded by a bunch of about 10 dogs that suddenly appeared, they were running beside my bike, but from their bark, it's more like 'Hello, watcha doing here?' They were not aggressive barking. There was no attempt to bite although they were only a few feet away. Just rode normal, but my two other friends chickened out and u-turn. |

Just do whatever you think works for you but please do not hurt the dogs. Just because you don't understand them does not mean they are always hostile and want to chew into your juicy legs. _________________ ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// |
