The HR im using now. Great for dry terrain weather. Great on sandy surfaces. But lousy front tire when cornering IMO. Tends to skid out due to hard compound. Not good when wet. You can use the 42a Supertacky version for front tire.
However its a great rear tire. Ample grip, low rolling resistance. OH YES, its light for a FR tire. Get the wire bead one. Its light. Quite cheap also. Some shop selling for just $38/tire only.
Since you wanna use it for XC, get the 2.1" version. No point taking 2.35" cause it will tire you out seriously. I get tired riding it on road altho its rolling resistance is low _________________ Full sus bike is not cheap. I've got hole in my wallet.

Great dry terrain tire. But never use them on wet terrain. I drift on them like
But its a freaking fast tire. Managed to clock 40km/h on flats with them. Thanks to the hard compound. But the hard compound has a serious down side.. _________________ Full sus bike is not cheap. I've got hole in my wallet.

i got only 1 choice. its called excavator. relatively low rolling resistance as compared to nevegal, more grip and loadssss better than crossmark. running 2.35 front and 2.1 rear. nv had anything more grippy. doesnt clog up in mud too.
BUT, its heavy. ~600g for 2.1 tires is quite heavy. then again, its good training.
i only have 2 things to say about crossmark. FAST, but no grip if its even remotely moist. _________________ Old thing dont go, new thing dont come.

Excavator can die on road. But on offroad its like god of traction. I never slip on them before. Trusty good'ol tire. Get them if your focus is traction! _________________ Full sus bike is not cheap. I've got hole in my wallet.

i went for road ride with my fren using the above tire combi. was able to keep up with the guy on slicks for a short period(drafting helps ). well beats using nevegals on road.
and yes... i slipped so much lesser in BF after using excavator. in the BT main trail, havent wash out yet. can do all sorts of stupid mistakes and it STILL bites. _________________ Old thing dont go, new thing dont come.

HR 2.1, 62a/F , 2.1,70a/R good combo? Or must use 2.35, 42a/F ? |
